Je ne suis ni une artiste, ni une créatrice, je suis une « faiseuse de couleurs » que d’autres utiliseront dans leurs créations. Mais cette énergie créative me manque quelque fois… Parfois, je réussis à l’intégrer dans ma production, lorsque j’en ai le temps… Mais je reste davantage une artisane qu’une artiste et c’est très bien comme cela, car l’artisanat est d’une grande noblesse.
Lorsqu’on m’a proposé de participer au salon « le flux » à Verneuil sur Avre, à une demi-heure de chez moi, je n’ai pas résisté longtemps à la tentation même si mon planning ne le permettait pas…
J’ai aimé l’idée derrière ce salon et j’ai aimé son intention. A lui seul, le petit texte d’introduction du salon n’a pas mis longtemps à me convaincre:
« En psychologie positive, le flow – mot anglais qui se traduit par flux -, ou la zone, est un état mental atteint par une personne lorsqu’elle est complètement plongée dans une activité et qu’elle se trouve dans un état maximal de concentration, de plein engagement et de satisfaction dans son accomplissement. Fondamentalement, le flow se caractérise par l’absorption totale d’une personne par son occupation. »
A joutez à cela un lieu assez magique…

I am not an artist nor a designer, I am a « color maker » that others will use in their creations. But I sometimes miss this creative energy… I manage to integrate it into my production, when I have the time… But I am still more of a craftswoman than an artist, and that’s fine, because there is a great nobility in craft.
When I was offered to take part in the event called « the flow » half an hour from my home, I didn’t resist the temptation for long, even though my schedule didn’t allow it…
I liked the idea behind this exhibition and I liked its intention. The small introductory text of the fair alone did not take long to convince me:
« In positive psychology, flow, or the zone, is a mental state attained by a person when they are fully immersed in an activity and are in a maximum state of concentration, full engagement and satisfaction with their accomplishment. Basically, flow is characterized by a person’s total absorption in their occupation. »
Add to this a rather magical place…

C’est le genre d’évènements où je ne me rends pas avec l’intention de vendre des produits, mais plutôt pour montrer mon travail et expliquer ce qu’est la teinture naturelle. C’est aussi l’occasion de rencontrer d’autres artisans et/ou producteurs. En ce sens, ce fut un très beau salon, avec une ambiance chaleureuse et humainement enrichissante. Je remercie Armelle Darondel ainsi que la municipalité de Verneuil pour avoir fait naître ce salon (avec une édition 2024 très enrichi qui se prépare déjà!). This is the kind of event where I don’t go with the intention of selling products, but rather to show my work and explain what natural dyeing is. It is also an opportunity to meet other crafters and/or producers. In this sense, it was a very nice fair, with a warm and humanly enriching atmosphere. I would like to thank Armelle Darondel and the municipality of Verneuil for having brought this fair to life (with a very enriched 2024 edition already in preparation!). Voici quelques photos de mon stand, où je présentais quelques produits teintés et faisais également la promotion de mes stages de tissage aux tablettes. J’avais également décidé d’emmener ma petite cuve d’indigo en fermentation pour des démonstrations, qui avait un peu froid malgré le chauffage que j’avais emmené. Cependant, c’était bien agréable de montrer la teinture dans ce très beau cadre.

Here are a few photos of my stall, where I presented a small range of dyed goods and advertised for my tablet weaving workshops. I also decided to come with some indigo dye demonstrations with my fermentation vat. It was a bit cold for him, despite the heater I had brought along, but it was nice to show dyeing for real in this great setting.

J’ai ressenti ce salon comme une respiration, un intermède dans mon quotidien de travail bien chargé en ce moment, avec le marché de l’histoire qui approche à grands pas. Sortir de son terrier d’artisan pour rencontrer et partager, voilà qui est essentiel à une bonne santé mentale et spirituelle! Et la Nature qui verdit et explose parachève la montée de l’énergie nécessaire au lourd travail de teintures qui m’attend.

This event was like a breath of fresh air, an interlude in my busy workdays at the moment, with the history market approaching fast. Getting out of your burrow to meet and share is essential for good mental and spiritual health! And Nature, which is greening and exploding, completes the rise in energy necessary for the heavy work of dyeing that awaits me.
